Unfortunately it is not just in America. We have many homeless in Canada also. I love your shots (some of mine are under the title Human Studies), they tell a story that too many do not wish to acknowledge.

This album is overwhelming and very powerful in letting others know the plight of the homeless. Great pictures. The thought of being homeless is very disturbing to me.

Hi Shirley, You have done a great job with this album in highlighting the plight of the homeless in the USA. I first became aware of it through a series of articles published in the "Los Angeles Times" a few years ago. I showed very sick people being dumped on the streets by ambulance crews, when they were discharged from hospital, even though they had nowhere to go. Many of the homeless in Los Angeles are drug adicts and a lot of them have drink problems too. The only crime most have committed is losing their homes, yet they are treated as criminals. Many are physically handicapped, riding the streets of Skid Row in their wheelchairs and sleeping in shop doorways or on the pavement at night. One homeless gentleman I read about was a gifted violinist and cellist, who had been trained at the Juliard Academy. Tragically he developed scizophrenia and so was unable to hold down an orchestral post. The last I heard of him, he was hoping to get off Skid Row. I certainly hope that he did. Hugs, Kathryn

WOW ! Truly outstanding photographs of a great subject. Wonderful storytelling with your photos. This album deserves to be featured if anyone ever did. But unless I'm mistaken, Webshots never features a volum that has photos of private individuals' faces in it. Faces of folks at public events seems okay though. If all that's true, then it's an unfortunate and I suspect unnecessary judgement call by Webshots. In any event, truly great photos.

Oh my - this is an emotional collection that many of us never get to see right here in the US. Occasionally I run into a homeless person when I take walks during lunch and it's so sad knowing they have no real home.

While it is sad that many are truely homeless in this country, you would be surprised at the number that live this way by choice. Even when given job offers by local businesses they refuse the jobs saying they can make more money on the streets and they do not have to work for the money.

Hi Shirley, This is a very touching album - your portrait shots are very good. My husband and I worked in a Women and Children's Emergency Shelter, retiring in just the last couple of years. Working at the shelter made me never take my home for granted. I meant to get to all your albums before the year's end but will not make it this year. I am glad however, that I found this album - it is a wonderful album to bring home the true meaning of Christmas. - Christmas Blessings, DeeAnne :)

Hi Shirley, Thank you so much for taking the time and for having the inspiration to do this album. I hope it humbles us all. There is no beauty in being homeless, or what circumstances of real life can to do real people. If every person that saw your album did a little something for a homeless person we would have 25,144 homeless people helped in some way at this moment, think of that. Thanks for the pix of the homeless people. I downloaded some of them to use at church for a clothing drive to benefit a partner parish that serves the homeless in Pittsburgh. We call our project "Putting a Face on the Homeless," because they are real people who deserve basic respect and dignity. Also, very nice Amish, Autumn, Valley Forge, and Chester Country pix! I used to live in Chester County; it was good to see "home" again. -- #####

Hi Shirley..I had been thinking about making an album just like this one and then I found yours. In Toronto where I live, we have many homeless souls and I think it is good to have an album to remind others of how fortunate they are, and to have some compassion for those whose lives have been forever altered by circumstance.
