  • Robert Wadlow has been a part of my life since I was a child growing up in Bethalto, IL. Robert's mother was my mother's cousin.

  • Thank you for the pictures of Robert Wadlow. My father, Melvin A. Neuhaus, grew up with Robert Wadlow. My father's house was the only home in Alton that Robert did not have to "duck" to enter the rooms. My grandparents built thier home with 12 foot ceilings, and 10 foot doorways. When Robert would go over to visit with my father and his brother and sister, he would sit on the porch and dangle his feet on the ground with his knees bent. My father remembers, there were 5 steps leading up to the front door. My grandfather, Arthur Blaine Neuhaus, sold Robert his first automobile. My grandfather owned Neuhaus-Paddock Motors in Alton, Illinois. They took the front seat out and Robert drove the car while seating in the back seat. My father said it was a very unnerving sight. If one did not know that the car was Robert's, they would think that the car was going down the street on its own. Thanks for the memories.
