Home Is Where The Art Is - Chapter 1

It was a lazy winter Sunday and the family was relaxing at home - except for my wife Pam, who was busy rearranging our bedroom (for the 17th time this year!). When she'd finished, I noticed how the late-afternoon sun cast eye-catching patterns on the rearranged furniture. So I picked up my camera and gave myself an assignment: take pictures of the interesting things in your own home - in the space of just five minutes. No plan, no setting up, no arranging objects...just shoot what you see and as they are - the things that have formed an integral part of your home and your life for years - without you ever really noticing them. You should try this assignment in your own home - it's fun and it's a fascinating exercise in focusing your powers of observation. It's also a revelation of who and what you are - measured by the objects that exist in your home. Best of all: you don't have to go hiking in the wilds to get your shots. I took 111 photographs in my five minutes. The pictures here and in the companion album are those I'd like to share.

Dave...I enjoyed this trek thru your home soo much!! Nothing explains who a person is more than that...And it didn't dissapoint. I saw colorful creativity, an adventuresome spirit, playfulness, varying degress of wonderful light, sentimentality, warmth, art appreciation, hospitality, curiosity, love of family, and........a HECK of a lot of liquor!! lol!!! It was a wonderful journey..thankyou for inviting us all in! I left far too many messages! I've often started to do this..but always felt like people would be dissapointed in my place...but I collect a lot too...books, vintage clocks, vintage everything...etc...course being a woman..I couldn't do it in 5 minutes...would have to clean first! hahah!!! maybe I should give it a whirl!~April

Dave!!!!! What a spectacular idea!!! I've been scrabbling around this evening trying to mix up a potion of 3 items for this week's challenge, and not being sufficiently pleased with anything I've come up with yet ... so I came in here, saw your name on a post, thought I'd follow the thread and see what you've been up to ... and I see this absolutely magnificent idea!!! What a wonderful exercise!!! I won't be doing it tonight, it may have to wait for a winter afternoon, but it's a very creative idea and one I'll keep in mind!!! Well done!!! Thank you for inviting us into you home. Lovely family. When we moved to Australia we sell all our stuff in South Africa. We sit foot in Australia with only 2 suitcases. Almost everything we have at this stage is 2end hand furniture. We are slowly building a new life. It will take time but we will get there. To look at your place just give us new hope that everything will be OK one day.
