  • Hello Paul! Great demonstrations. I didn't know about the Rule of thirds, until lately. Although, I used it, just didn't know that's what I was doing. Now, who says you can't teach an old dog, new tricks. Thank you for the photography classes. I have learned much.

  • Nice! However, for someone with an inspirational angle, I think it's best to forget rules and just be guided by inspiration - and intuition. It's like music: Rules are ok, but the best songs are made without them - and yet somehow follow a few of them without sweat. And often they break just as many of the rules. The rule of thirds collide with so many other things like colour, shape, light and movement, so, follow your instinkt, your inspiration bla bla bla ;-)

  • Thanks for this very interesting 'concept' album. Very useful. The rule of thirds is one of the most basic elements of art and design as well of photography. Thanks again, Don.

  • When I took Photography 11 at my high school a year ago, I learned of this technique. It is really useful when trying to capture a photo at an angle and set-up that is pleasing to the eye. Thank you for sharing some excellent examples of this - and I now know and feel confirmed that this rule is not just a made-up little rule in high school, but is used in the real professional world of photography! Thanks for the confirmation! - Alexis ps I LOVE your work, you're so inspiring and professional!
