Hello Siw, from out in the Coalfields, WSW of Mackay, which is on the East Coast of Queensland. Your Praying Mantis pics are excellent, Siw, however, they sharply remind me of the other evening. I saw one have a little accident, and it fell into a bucket. Big brave me carefully picked the poor little "harmless" injured critter up, and it bit me HARD! I can quite see now how the female can eat her mate - her bite is very hard and sharp! Just as well the mouth is so tiny, and I'm big! Anyway, I then had a sensible moment, and picked up a big leaf, and a little stick, and got it organised onto a pot plant. It righted itself, stood as tall as it could, put the arms up, and offered to fight me, just like a boxer in the ring! What courage in such a tiny creature! Someone else can save the life of the next one, I tell you! And that very interesting, hairy, red spider - wow !!! glad you used the macro zoom! Thanks for sharing your photos - better you than me, I think. Cheers. Margaret downunder.

You should only be scared if you are a male mantis, and you just had wild sex.. because you are about to lose your head.. and then get eaten. I think if I were a male mantis I would stick to foreplay only.. Very cute album Siw.. glad you stopped to shoot. And that devil mantis is the coolest looking bug I've seen!
