Jack, Thank You for sharing your 2008 family vacation and beautiful photos. Families are special and mean so much. I live in southeastern NC, an hour and half from the coast, though that depends on which coast line, it can be just over an hour. My husband and I were borned and raised here, but my husband has transferred to FL. close to Jacksonville, so we will be relocating. NC will always be home. We have a home on Oak Island, another "Beautiful" location. If you haven't visited there you should Hwy. 74 off I-95, to Hwy. 211 which takes you into Southport. Bald Head Island off of Southport and the Cape Fear River has BHI Lighthouse and Caswell Beach (Ft. Caswell) has the Coast Guard Station with the OKI Lighthouse sitting in front of it, just across the street from the ocean, with a great view of BHI from the boardwalk. I think it is the most beautiful location in the US to live. The Outer Banks are beautiful and have a lot to offer. I have some great family memories and photos as well from there. Some of the same views as yours, though I didn't notice any from Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Also, another quite and wonderful place to visit. I actually enjoyed my two visits there the most. "Quaint and Quite" Check out this website: http://www.outer-banks.com/lighthouses.asp Thanks Again for sharing! I also enjoyed your Mtn. shots! Another place I also love to visit and have alot of great memories and photos from, a visitor can't appreciate the greatness without hiking to some of the Falls and spectular views. Keep up the superior photographing.
