    • Hi everyone, Yesterday Wilson and I went to the ECNY. The concert was held in a highschool stadium and there were about 500 people who attended. From what I've heard, the audience included not only the tri-state area but also people from Philadelphia and Boston. As Wilson and I looked around we saw a lot of eldery people there too. Although all the songs were new to them, they really enjoyed the concert and thought all the parts were good (what they told us as we were helping them to fill out the evaluation forms). On a more personal note, the part that touched me the most about the concert was when Fr. Yan started asking the audience to say our prayers. Right away people started raising their hands. Some of the prayers were personal ones but many of them were prayers for issues against rasism (among different races, among Chinese people from different areas, among different religions) and prayers for unity and for more people to experience God's love. When I first came to the East coast, I had found people here were very protective and cold. I knew it was part of the New York culture and that's what people had to do to survive. Coming to this concert opened my eyes and my heart: no matter how tough an enivronment there is no stopping of people's yearning for an united and harmonious community, one that's cultivated in God's love. The other really special part, which made me glad that I attended NY concert, was that Wilson and I were there together for the blessing from Fr. Yan. I forgot to mention that we actually brought a friend(whom Vincent introduced and requested us to ask her to go) who was a non-Catholic. When Fr. Yan announced for the non-Catholic to come forth and anyone who wanted to receive blessings to come on stage, Wilson, Lisa (the friend), and I went, among many others. Among the blessings that Fr. Yan said was blessing for marriage couples. I was really happy there holding Wilson's hand and receiving this special blessing. Vincent's friend was really touched as well. Of course I was so happy to see the old gang (Ricky, Julia, Candy, Stephen, Matthew, Gabriel, Fr. Yan...). It's like "meeting old friends in the other village". Also just finished looking at the LA concert pictures and saw many bay area brothers and sisters there as well. I am sure the concert in Vancouver will be so filled with the Holy Spirit and everyone will be able to experience your joy and love in God. with prayers, Angel :)

    • Ben: Thanks so much for all the work you and others have done to make this event such a great success in New York and elsewhere. If all of us can have the same burning desire and faith of fire as you, Fr. Yan, and our Chinese Martyrs, we will all be doing a greater job in being God's witness. May God bless all of us, Peter Chan

    • Hello to all, Last Sunday, a group of us, 20 in all, went to attend the Evangelization Rally 2000 in New York City. Some of the people drove themselves down, but twelve of us went on the 8am Sunday Boston Chinatown to New York Chinatown shuttle bus. As for the round trip bus ride, it was a bit tiring but was actually pretty comfortable. I learned later that they showed four movies on the bus. I saw one and couldn't even stay with it to the end. I conked out most of the time. The bus did stop for a 20-minute break each way for people going to restroom and getting coffee. The rally was held at a auditorium of a Chinese high school on Hester Street in New York Chinatown. It was organized by a group of young Catholic Chinese called 'Friends of Jesus' Passover. Ken Cho was one of the members of the group. Most of them came from Hong Kong and some came from other countries. The theme of the rally was: 'Freedom Chained by Daily Habits'. The rally was lead by Fr. Giovanni Giampietro with a Chinese name of Fr. En Bo Tuk. Fr. En gave a retreat for our Boston community about four years ago. He was still as vigorous as ever and as youthful as ever. He still recognized some of us and called me by name. He was thrilled to see us there and was very grateful for our support and participation. He took some pictures with us. He told us that he had just finished a rally in Los Angeles and immediately flew to New York for another rally. What God-sent energy for a 68 years old man!!! The entire program was conducted in Cantonese, which included skits, giving witnesses, songs, prayers, and highlighted with a very moving talk by Fr. En. Fr. En's words, wits, kindness, and humility, could truly touch souls. A wonderful shepherd who was so full of God's life. No doubt, we were glad that we came. Benjamin Tang was so gracious to receive us and reserved great seats for us up front. Regretfully, due to our bus departing from New York at 6pm, we had to sit near the entryway so that we could slip out of the door quietly and easily. By the time the bus rolled back to Boston, it was exactly 10pm. We were dead tired yet our faith and belief had made stronger and deeper by this trip. For a moment frozen in time, we were truly set free by God's words of truth and at peace. Emmanuel 2000 and beyond, Judy Lew

    • Dear Brothers & Sisters: Wow! What a "show"! Thanks to the Big Daddy Steve for babysitting our two monsters, so I got a chance to go. Thank God for letting me be an audience, then I could be part of it and share your achievement. What is really impress me the most is not the "performance", but your great team work--- you are really the greatest! I was so touched by each and every one of you: For those of you who worked so hard together in order to put up for this event, may God bless your heart and strengthen your faith. For those of you who woke up so early on that Sunday morning, may God bless your body and give you the rest. For those of you who spent long hours practicing the songs, may God bless your voice and keep praising the Lord. I am really blessed for having all of you as friends. And I feel so proud of all of you! How I wish I can be one of you, be part of the event, but as a mom now, the only thing I can do is to pray for all of you! I'm sure you all had a great experience. And I hope such a great experience will keep up your spirit in order to keep serving our God. Alleluia! Love in Christ Zoe
