We purchased the Tempest (“Pier Pressure”) in 2006 because my parents were in their late 70's and our old steel open boat was getting a bit too much for them. My parents had been on the lake for 45 years, so this was a big treat for them. Unfortunately, my father died of cancer last year after only one summer with the new boat. My mother does not know how to drive a boat. We "kids" don't stay at the cottage as long as my parents did, and we are more familiar with the small outboard. When we have a large load, we take the water taxi in and out. We bought the boat from Burrows Marine in Temagami. He had recently renovated the entire boat, updating the engine, seats, canvas covers (hand-made by his wife). We only drive about 125 miles per summer - from our island to the landing, and a few "doughnuts" in the bay for the kids on the airtube. We only used the boat in July & August, 2006 and 2007 when there were experienced captains visiting to drive the boat. This past summer (2008) we left it in storage at Temagami Marine where it had been serviced the previous winter. I have just brought it back to Hamilton. I have given it a wash and polish, bought a new cover for it and it is sitting on the trailer waiting for its new home.
