The plan was to try to get Marion Mountain, Newton Drury Peak and Jean Peak all in one day. I took the Marion Mountain Trail from the trailhead (6,300') 4.3 miles to Little Round Valley (9,800'). From LRV to Newton Drury is a clear cross country hike due south. Here I am on Newton Drury with Jean Peak in the background. Of the few signatures in the register for this year I recognized Bruce (HPShiker) and Roy (Newenglandhiker) from the previous week.

Same "Newton Drury" that the parkway is name for in Prairie Creek redwoods state park by chance? I've got a photo of the Newton Drury redwood in my albums now, too. http://www.mdvaden.com/grove_of_titans.shtml
