With the French revolution and the revolution of the slaves of Haiti Pierre Nicholas and his bother Nicolás Edward left the island of Martinique to look for a new home and by luck were shipwreck in Trinidad (1793), near the town of Mayaro. They bought lands, slaves and founded a new plantation of sugar and cotton. The new plantation was called "Beausejour", (happy staying).
