My name is Drake and I am looking for a new Forever Home where I will be loved and played with. I am a tall, beautiful (or so I've been told), typical Springer pup. My family decided they didn't have time for an active, growing puppy, and I found myself in a shelter where a very nice gentleman from ESRA rescued me. Now I am here at my Foster Mom's house having a wonderful time romping and wrestling with the resident dogs, and working on my manners. I've never had any training, and I try real hard to do what I'm asked, but it's soooo hard to sit still! I think an obedience class with my new family would be a lot of fun, and help to smooth out my rough edges! Foster Mom: Drake is a wonderful, sweet, rambunctious Springer who would like to find a Forever Home with a playmate more than anything. We know that Drake was bought by his family from a breeder as a puppy, and then kept in the backyard and pretty much ignored, while the other resident dog was allowed in the house. Drake has had no obedience training, and is just learning to Sit on command. Drake has only been at his foster home for a couple of days, so his evaluation is on-going. However, it is evident that, in typical Springer fashion, he wants to please, and is a quick learner. It is anticipated, that by observing the resident dogs and from his Foster Mom's mini-lessons, Drake will soon learn some basic manners. Obedience classes are going to be a requirement for Drake and his new family. Drake is a large puppy who is very strong, and obedience classes will teach both him and his new family how to relate to each other. Once Drake has learned his basic commands, it is my opinion that he would greatly enjoy and excel at an activity such as agility, Frisbee, fly-ball, or frequent jogging or hiking with his new family. Drake is up to date on all his shots, is microchipped, has tested negative for heartworm, and is scheduled to be neutered tomorrow. He has a great personality, is always smiling, and has a full body wiggle – even while racing around the yard. Drake is a happy, wonderful boy looking for a Springer-savvy person or family who would be willing to do whatever it takes to be his new Forever Family. Obedience training, follow-through, and lots of attention and exercise are essential to allow Drake to become a well-mannered, happy Springer. Drake would also benefit from another dog of similar age, size, and activity level in the family to play with. Drake will be available for adoption beginning next weekend. Update 17 NOV 07: Drake has been in foster care for one week now and the change is noticeable. While Drake still retains his puppy enthusiasm, he is learning to sit for his cuddles, treats and food dish. He still has trouble not jumping on people but we are working on it. After all, he is still a rambunctious puppy who enjoys life to its fullest! Drake's training will continue while at his foster Mom's, but he is more than ready for a new forever home where he can be part of a family.
