He was out running for a while, given the condition of his coat. We think Percy was basically tossed out in somebody's back yard and left to his own devices. His coat is severely bleached, and he is absolutely covered in burrs. He's a bit overweight, so he hasn't missed too many meals. He also has heartworm. The good news is, Percy is an absolute sweetheart. He is very friendly to everyone he meets. He doesn't know what a big boy he is, as he tries to climb right into the nearest lap for snuggles! What Percy really needs is a foster home that will see him through his heartworm treatment. We suspect that the lucky family that fosters Percy may end up keeping him, as he's such a nice boy. Percy's makeover will start immediately with a haircut and some serious grooming. He's also starting his new diet to shed a few pounds. Stand by for some beautiful after pictures. There is a gorgeous Springer inside here! Update 07 MAY 07: Percy got a haircut today! What a handsome boy we have uncovered in the process! Now that we have had a better look at what kind of shape he is in, we don't think he is terribly overweight. He's just a big, muscular boy. He was very good with the groomer and just laid there while she got rid of all those mats, burrs, and ticks. He even smells good now! Percy would love to have a family to spoil him through his recovery from heartworm treatment.
