In Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond. Charles Dimmock designed the pyramid-shaped monument built of granite from the James River. A volunteer named Thomas Stanley, who was serving a sentence at the State Penitentiary, placed the capstone on November 6, 1868. It is inscribed, To the Confederate Dead - Memoria in Aeterna Numini et Patriae Asto, meaning "In eternal memory of those who stood for God and country."
