Album Info:

Many people (including me) use this swimming area in winter to winter bathe. See the little picture in the picture... Ribersborgs "Coldbathing-house", called 'Ribban' in local palance, is a private open air swimming area, located at Ribersborgs beach, approximately 2 km from Malmö City and 5 km from the Öresund Bridge. All the year round it offers its visitors : -- seperate naked bathing facilities for men and women -- two saunas on each side, of which one has a wood fire -- bathing in the Öresund's seawater -- a wonderful view of the Öresund, the Turning Torso building and Copenhagen from the saunas' panoramic windows Malmö's bathing facility at Ribersborg was inaugurated on the 1st of June, 1898, and it was named Ribersborg "Coldbathing-house" after the Ribersborg district of Malmö. The bathing house was given heritage status on the 14th of August, 1995.

    • Brrr, chilly! I never thought I could take one of those dips. I shiver in moderately cool water in the summer. Very nice photo Myran. Ray

    • Great shot, Myran! Interesting history to this bathhouse. Thanks for showing this one and letting us know the history. Over 100 years is quite a long time for a bathhouse. Well done. Greetings and hugs from, OKLAHOMA. Susie

    • Interesting commentary .. we don't do winter bathing but we do have the Polar Bear Swim on New Year's Day ... when the water temperature is about 3 degrees celcius ... and I think they're all insane!

    • After using the sauna, it was not uncommon in parts of Northern Ontario; to go from the sauna into the cold lake water and sometimes even through a hole cut in the ice.. Well done Myra and an excellent story like.

    • ..and you know - I won't take this body to a public swimming pool in a bathing suit - I can't IMAGINE being naked with a bunch of other women I don't know (or do know for that matter)! LOL. The sand looks very inviting though...for bare FEET only I'm afraid. <giggle> :)
