Album Info:

Age: 6 years Gender: Female Color: Black/White Weight: 50 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Beautiful, sweet AJ is looking for a quiet home. She would like a family who appreciates her cuddly side. She will curl up to you on the couch, gently nuzzle you at your feet, or sleep with you on the bed. Belly rubs are a favorite! She loves to get as close as she can to her humans, literally sitting in our laps if we let her! She is also very big on kisses! She loves to run and swim and go camping. She especially loves running through the woods off a leash and going in the water. She also loves riding in the car and would not be a problem for people that like to travel as long as she got to go with them. She loves to carry around small stuffed animals and generally does not destroy them, just carefully totes them around with her which is really cute. Her favorite is a stuffed hedgehog. She cuddles with that toy all the time. AJ would do great with another dog or as the only dog. She loves dogs! She shares her food bowl, all snacks, and toys. She has never guarded anything and has a lot of fun with dog friends. However, she does not like cats and will chase them. While she is OK on a leash, she will lunge if she sees a cat. She sometimes chases ducks in the water at the lake. She is birdy but has never hunted. She is great off-leash and has a ton of fun in the woods. She does well while her people are at work. She is fine left inside, she doesn't chew anything, and just lounges on the furniture. If you left something delicious in the garbage and in her reach, she might get into it. But otherwise, stays out of trouble. She knows her basic commands. She is housetrained. AJ needs a big yard with a secure fence, as she really enjoys the outdoors and indoors. AJ is in great health, spayed with all her shots. She's only had one ear infection in her whole life, and is groomed regularly and taken care of. AJ is a bit of a Nervous Nellie. She is easily excited though and jumps up and and barks at the door when people come over or right when we let ter her in the house. After a couple minutes then she is her calm sweet self again. When I first met her, she was overjoyed to see me and barked with excitement but was not protective in any way. AJ is a bit nervous about going to the vet and getting groomed. She is OK, but needs a loving touch and a soft voice. When I went through the steps of ESRA's temperament test with her, she did very well, but she whined at first when I touched her ear. She will cower and is very submissive. Because of these tendencies, we are thinking that a home without small rambunctious children would be best. We can imagine AJ's anxiety when the toddler falls on her or friends play too rough; AJ will want to run and hide. AJ has a nice temperament and has never shown one bit of aggressive or protective behavior, but we prefer to have submissive, fearful dogs in a quieter environment as they are stressed out easily. AJ currently lives with a family with two working parents and a toddler with a busy schedule. Probably a semi-retired couple, an empty-nest couple with a less-hectic schedule, etc., would be good. If the person worked from home, AJ would lie at their feet all day and help them. She would love to have more time with her family. If you yearn for a dog who is sweet through and through, a gentle girl who is friends with everyone, consider AJ. If you can give a loving home to this delightful snuggle bug a home, please contact us.
