This is Denis Hamel's first goal scored during the 2008/09 season and 244th of his AHL career, a power play goal assited by Josh Hennessy and Zack Smith, scored November 14th 2008 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena at 8:36 of the the 3rd period against the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins John Curry, it was the game winner in the Binghampton Senators 4-2 victory over the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins. Hamel was voted games 1st Star, Zach Smith was voted 3rd Star. During the 2008/09 season, Hamel played in 63 games for the Binghampton Senators, scoring 25 goals 25 assist for 50 points and 36 PIMs. Denis Hamel has enjoyed much success at the AHL level, winning the 2005/06 Willie Marshall Award given to the player the leads the league in goal scoring, During the 2008 season he was awarded the Yanic Dupre Memorial Award, awarded to the the AHL player judged most outstanding humanitarian contribution. Hamel has also played in the NHL, suiting up for the Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators, Atlanta Thrashers and Philadelphia Flyers, he has appeared in 192 games, scoring 19 goals, 12 assist for 31 points and 71 PIMS.
