If you can appreciate a happy-go-lucky, curious, sniffing everything, always giving kisses, dog... Owen is the dog for you. Owen is a nice young man who is an A+ student. He had a lot to learn, but he's doing great. Owen has learned how to walk nicely on a leash and to heel. He's also learned sit, down, off, and to wait at doorways. He liked to bolt out of the gate and car, and he is learning to wait for the command now. He came to us not house-trained, but has learned like a champ and has only had one accident in the process! We strongly recommend that the new family enroll him in obedience classes as he will be a star and it will help him bond with the new home. He is great being groomed, and absolutely loves to be brushed. His foster mom affectionately calls him the diva because he likes to be brushed so much. He was also terrific at the vet office and charmed everyone with his slobbery kisses and good-natured attitude. We're still working on a few issues: Owen doesn't like to share his toys with the other dogs in the household. He also can be quite whiny for attention, which can irritate the other dogs. He wants all the attention himself. He also needs more practice walking on a leash around other dogs. He sometimes can be a bit barky on leash where he's not at all off leash. An off-leash dog park would be ideal for him. Owen is fascinated by everything. He LOVES toys, especially squeaky toys, and he loves to fetch the ball. Sometimes he is fascinated by strange objects, like pens. He'd really love to eat them, but he listens when you tell him no. He enjoys the sparrows and marmots in his environment. He is startled by loud noises, but not a watch dog. He does not bark at strangers at all. Owen is being fostered in a home with multiple dogs, cats, and lots of day-care kids. Luckily his prey drive does not extend to cats, and he does well with them. He loves everybody, and is especially good with the kids. He's exuberant, and would do best with kids 3 and up because of his energy level. He is very tolerant of the little ones crawling on him and he really enjoys the older ones. We feel lucky that Owen came to us, from the Chehalis shelter. He's been a joy to work with. He's just a young, sweet, adorable goofy guy and you can't help but fall in love with him.
