Album Info:
As a place for the Kang Family's unmarried offsprings' living quarters, it had pure, fresh and tasteful decorations. The daughter had to live in seclusion, learning needlework, reading books, practising calligraphy and embroidery. Taught with the three obediences (obedience to father before marriage, to husband after marriage and to son after husband's death) and four virtues (morality, proper speech, modest manner and diligence), she would eventually be brought up into a good girl who strictly obeyed the rules for women. (from plaque nearby). A boudoir is a lady's private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. The term derives from the French verb bouder, meaning "to pout". (Wikipedia)
