He is housetrained, and does very well left alone in the house uncrated. He would do best in a home with another dog for a companion or someone who is home more often, because he does want to be right by his people. He would spend all day in your lap if he could! He rests or sleeps under his foster mom's chair in the evenings, and next to the bed at night. He gets along well with the resident Springer, and is curious about the cats, but leaves them alone unless they feel like a game of tag! Niles loves going for walks, especially when he can go galloping off to plunge into snow banks, investigate trees, or the river. He is energetic for a ten-year-old. He loves his Kong, and playing fetch with almost anything. He is anxious in new situations, but settles down with calm, attention, and soothing. The vet has pronounced him healthy, except for chronic ear infections, and his foster mom is working diligently to get those under control. He is a little restless in the car, and prefers to sit with his seat belt on in the front seat. He is crate trained, but prefers to not be crated if at all possible. Niles will be a wonderful companion for someone who wants a non-dominant second dog, or who will have time to spend with him, as he doesn't like to be alone a lot. Niles is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and heartworm negative. He's just waiting for that special family to call his own!
