Album Info:

After experiencing how unpredictably a latex gasket can fail, I started to research other options for drysuit gaskets. I decided to make my own gaskets out of 1mm neoprene, with nylon on one side and Glideskin on the other. This thin neoprene has a great amount of stretch which provides a very comfortable fit and makes it easy to put on and take off. The nylon fabric makes the material durable, and the Glide Skin provides a watertight seal against the skin. The end result is having gaskets that are very comfortable, waterproof, durable and repairable. These characteristics made them a good upgrade from the latex gaskets. The following is a log I kept of the process I used and hopefully it will help others enjoy and depend on their drysuits as much as I do now. A full description of this project appears in the August 2008 issue of Sea Kayaker magazine. See www.seakayakermag.com
