Album Info:
Here are the parts needed to make the diamond plate. "a" is aluminum sheets used to print newspapers. They are a little bit bigger than a newpaper. Just ask if they have any newspaper aluminum sheets used to print. I got mine for free just for asking. The clamps on the right to hold down the pattern. "B" is my pattern board. I want the diamond plates to be 2 3/4 wide so I cut a board about 40 inches long. The width has to be exactly the width you want it Make the pattern long enough to go across the aluminum at a angle and have room to clamp down both sides with clamps. C is the pusher board I use to bend the aluminum up from the backside. To use it you just put it along the edge where it needs to be bent and press up. I have done it so much now I use my hand for most of it. I also took piece of angle iron and clamped it to the edge of my tablesaw. The reason I did this was to make a longer edge since my tablesaw top was not long enough to bend it. When you lay the aluminum down then put the pattern on top. Make sure the pattern is almost even to the edge of the added rail on the tablesaw. I usually make the pattern go a little further out, maybe 1/4 the width of a pencil. That way it bends good.
