Album Info:

The Oresund Bridge (Swedish Öresundsbron) is a combined two-track rail and four-lane road bridge across the Oresund strait. The bridge-tunnel is the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe and connects the two metropolitan areas of the Oresund Region: the Danish capital of Copenhagen and the Swedish city of Malmö. The international European route E20 runs across the bridge, as does the Oresund Railway Line. The total length of the bridge is 7845 metres (25738 ft), The tunnel is 4050 metres (13287 ft) long, a 3510 metres long buried undersea tunnel plus two 270-metres gate-tunnels. The bridge opened in 2000-07-01 so it´s been 7 years of convenience!

    • This is great! Reminds me a bit of the Zeeland-bridge in the South of Holland, but this is a lot longer, of course. Like the way the sun reflects off the water, too.

    • A part of the very interesting caption, Majvi, your compositon is so beautiful: the tree as frame on lefthand side, the green grass, the sparkling sea and the cloudy sky separated by the Bridge! Lovely. Warmest. Claudia

    • I think, after what I have heard, that the bridges in Sweden are constructed in a quite different way than eg this one in Minnesota. What happened there, could never happen to our bridges... (I hope...). I´m so sorry for the loss of people in this accident!!!

    • This is quite a bridge and an excellent photo, but I would not drive across that bridge for anything. Not after a big one went down here in Minnesota. They still are finding bodies. Sharon

    • What an amazing structure and a great engineering feat. Thanks for all the information which greatly adds to the interest. I bet it's a funny feeling driving across there though and I bet it can get very windy, too, in which case it would probably be closed to traffic for a little while. You have done very well to get all of it into your picture.
