Age: 2-1/2 years Gender: Male Color: Black/White Weight: 25 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Hi! My name is Chase. I was a stray on the streets when I was picked up and taken to a shelter. I was severly underweight and my fur was extremely matted & caked with dried urine and feces. (See top picture.) As soon as my foster mom got me home, she spent over an hour carefully cutting out mats that went clear down to my skin. The ear mats were larger than my ears & filled with foxtails! I sat quietly on her lap the whole time, enjoying the love & attention I knew had finally found me. I love living here where I have 4 other Springers to play with, get good food (and enough of it!) and sleep on my foster mom's bed at night. But I'm looking for a Forever Home of my own. Chase's foster mom: Chase is a total love! He was only 18 lbs. when he came out of the shelter and now weighs about 25 lbs. He's still a little too thin, but at least I can't count his ribs or see his backbone and hipbones anymore. He's a very small Springer so will never weigh much more than he does now. He looks like a puppy and probably always will, but he's well past the puppy stage of chewing, digging, etc. He loves all dog toys and tennis balls and playing fetch with them. As for training, he's a diamond in the rough. He's learned stay, walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. Other than that, he could use some obedience training. He learned his name in just a couple of hours, so he's a quick study. I suspect in his former life Chase was left outside, given little if any attention and obviously not fed properly or enough. He bonds very quickly, loves attention and is a total lovebug. He'll follow you everywhere. Chase would probably do best in a home where someone is home most of the time. He loves kids, probably older than toddler age because we're still working on down and off because he's just so darn happy to be with someone who loves him. He's neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and microchipped. And he's been housebroken with a doggie door since coming here.
