I made some mockup neck seals to see how tight I could make the gasket around my neck without it being too uncomfortable. My neck measures 15 1/2" in circumference and a gasket that is 12" will work fine. I cut a piece of string 12" long that will be used when making the pattern. If you are using this same material and want a secure and waterproof seal, I would recommend starting out with a gasket that is 3 1/2" smaller in circumference than your neck.
