Barcelos - The Mother Church (cathedral)
antoniolouro > albums > NORTH of PORTUGAL
Album Info:
Inside the church, there are two images of the patron saint, Our Lady of Assumption (Nossa Senhora d’ Assunção); the most recent one dates from the 18th century. There is also an image of Our Lady of Franqueira, wooden-made, crowned, and with the Infant in her arms, a Gothic work from the middle of the 15th century; and an image of another «Lady», made of stone of «ançã» (a limestone, easy to work on), with a veil over her head, sinuous body, which dates from the 14th century , although the Infant in her arms is posterior.
