She is housetrained, crate trained, gets along great with other dogs, and has a kind and loving soul. Abby is a very happy and playful girl despite being diagnosed with PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), which sadly means she is losing her eyesight. There is no cure for PRA, but the good news is that it is not painful and no special medication or surgery is required. When Abby landed in her foster home she was frightened and unsure because there were so many new things to adjust to. But you should see her now! She has mapped out the entire yard in her head, running and playing like all the other dogs. She is learning new words like Step, Wait, etc. Abby loves her crate because she feels safe and secure there, but she also likes to snuggle in your lap. Her foster mom thinks that she can see some light and shadows during the daytime, but at dusk or night she is unable to see. As much as Abby's foster mom loves her, Abby deserves a Forever Home and a family of her own. She would probably do best in a quiet home with a buddy to keep her company and show her the way. I know there is a very special person out there with patience, love, and understanding in their heart who will be committed to caring for Abby! Abby is not sad and doesn't need our sympathy, but she does need a Forever Friend to enjoy her life with!
