Album Info:

Age: 2 years Gender: Male Color: Black/White Weight: 65 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Porter is a loveable, gorgeous boy who is looking for a new home. His owners got him from an unfortunate situation back in February. Porter has been a great dog for them, except his recent tendencies to roam. He lives on a farm, and would do much better in a fenced yard. He's very friendly and outgoing. When I drove up to the place to meet him, he came to greet me and then wanted to get in the car with me. He makes friends instantly. He enjoys hanging out with the resident Springer and the four cats who live on the farm. Porter is a moose of a Springer, as he's a big, stocky boy in perfect shape. He has a great coat that is kept short and he loves to be petted. Belly rubs are the best! He is in good health and up to date on everything. He gets occasional ear infections but has otherwise not had any problems. Porter would do best in a home with lots of exercise and activity. He loves to play in the sprinkler. He is a moderate activity dog. He can be outside running around with his canine friend, and then inside as a couch potato if you're relaxing. He adjusts well to you. He's at a great age where he has mellowed out and is past the puppy stage. Porter is housetrained, although he lives outside currently. He was a house dog before, and we've seen him inside the house. He is definitely used to indoor living. He doesn't get into any trouble and he immediately finds a place to snooze near you, like at your feet while you're sitting at the table. Porter might be a counter surfer if given the opportunity, but we have not noticed anything like that. He rides well in the car. Porter is also crate trained. If you put a milk bone in the crate, he will go right in. He doesn't have to stay long, though; only a couple hours at the most. He sleeps on his doggie bed. He knows commands such as come, sit, down, no, etc. He will sit for his food and eat after you've said OK. He does well being groomed although isn't a fan of his feet being groomed, especially since he's had some cheat grass in his paws before. Porter was teased by a young boy, and Porter is a bit unsure about small children. He is not aggressive but is very cautious and uncomfortable. We would recommend kids age 10 and up. He has been OK with the couple's grandchildren, but they know the situation he is from. A sturdy fenced yard is a requirement for Porter. He is a dog that would be better on leash than off. It's not that he bolts; in fact, he comes well to his name and especially to a whistle. But on the farm, he chases mice, and he might not come back for hours. So let's be on the safe side and have him safely contained. He has not been on the leash much on the farm, and probably needs some refresher training on the leash. Porter is a very nice, calm, affectionate dog who deserves a great forever home. He is very charming and easy to get along with. He just needs the right situation and that's what we will find.
