Album Info:

Age: 5 years Gender: Female Color: Black/White Weight: 87 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Cookie, named for her sweet personality, needs our help finding a loving home. Cookie found herself in rescue because her owner was dying of cancer and could not take care of her. This is the kind of situation that rescue was designed to take on. Cookie has had a few too many cookies, as you can see by her hefty weight. However, she is losing weight quickly by eating normal amounts of diet food and getting some exercise! She plays and runs around with the other dogs where she is staying. She can't play for hours, but she gives it all she's got and then takes a break until she can join them again. Her brother is in rescue and he is 46 pounds, so I know Cookie's girth is diet-related more than genetics. I'm not sure what she ate with her owner, but this high-quality dog food suits her well and she does not scarf it down but eats daintily. Despite the extra pounds, Cookie is pretty healthy. We've taken care of everything she needs. She does not have low thyroid problems or anything else. She does well with other dogs. She has lived with indoor cats and does not bother them, but would chase a cat outside, so cats should be considered carefully. She has been around older kids and did great! We recently tested her with toddlers and were delighted at how gentle she is. She would lightly lick the little ones' hands and gently approach them. She was happy to see them. Cookie is housetrained and knows Sit. Cookie's downside is her current weight, which will change. She is not really a big Springer-- just chubby, and she's making rapid progress. Because of the extra weight, she tends to pant a lot, especially when she is excited. She loves riding in the car, but sounds like she might pop at any moment. But if you can look past the extra pounds, and help her through her journey, you'll find a dog who just loves life and has many more great years ahead. Cookie loves to put a paw up for you, or a paw on you. She loves to give kisses and snuggle up to you. She absolutely loves affection! Everyone is a friend. If you like that classic happy, friendly Springer personality, consider Cookie! Update: Cookie was adopted and returned for not getting along with the resident dog. In the doggie daycare situation, Cookie did well with other dogs. However, once she was in a home, she wanted the human mom all to herself and was unwilling to share her. We think Cookie needs to go to a home where she is the only dog, as she is used to that. We were happy to see how wonderful Cookie was with the kids. It would have been a great match if she would have been nice to the resident dog. Please consider Cookie only if she can be the only dog at your home
