Album Info:

Age: 4 years Gender: Male Color: Black/White Weight: 38 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Duke is looking for a home with lots of human attention. This lovely young boy enjoys giving kisses and cuddlng. It was a good day for Duke when he was surrendered by his owner, along with his brother Dylan. Duke was in need of medical care. He was flea-infested, and was suffering from a flea allergy. He was very uncomfortable, with infected skin and hair loss, and he couldn't stop scratching. He was also about 10-15 pounds underweight, with ear and gum infections. He needed a neuter, and basic care such as vaccinations. Duke's big brown eyes helped us see his doting personality. This loving boy felt a lot better after getting a bath and going to the vet. We discovered what a sweet, loving boy he was. He loves to snuggle! He was scared to sleep the first night but is now a big fan of dog beds and will sleep curled at your feet anytime. His coat has grown back, he's shiny and handsome, and very healthy. Duke has a hearty appetite and eats three times a day. Our guess is that the food that was left for Duke and Dylan was not sufficient, and Dylan ate most of it. Duke is negative for any parasites and loves to eat, so he probably did not have enough and Dylan got to it first. Duke has gained 15 pounds since coming to foster care!! He is now exactly where he needs to be! He loves to play with balls, although seemed new to toys and was initially scared of the squeaky toys! After seeing him interact with other dogs, we think he would do best with a female doggie companion rather than another male. He is playing well with the two Springers he is living with now. I wouldn't put him with very young kids as he still needs to learn to take treats nicely. He also does well with cats. He knows the commands sit, lay down, leave it, speak. He is very intelligent, especially about food. The first time I gave him a kong with a biscuit, kibbles, and a carrot inside, he would pick it up, drop it to the floor, pick it up, drop to floor. He did this until it was empty. He even unzipped my backpack and removed everything from it. He did not damage any items that were not edible nor the backpack. We would recommend that you not keep food out in tempting places as Duke may succumb to temptation. There are worse things than being a counter surfer, especially when the dog is fun, intelligent, friendly, playful, and loving to meet new people. He is cute beyond words and loves to walk with such a full-body wiggle. The best thing about Duke is that we've seen the transformation from an extremely timid, emaciated boy to a loving, happy, content dog-- the typical wiggly Springer!
