I wasn't going for a wizard of oz feel here. It was all happenstance. I was just sitting and listening to some atrocious bands playing at the school festival here in Otaru when I looked up and saw this girl (foreground). She was all decked out in Japanese 'cute' with a stylish bag, clothes, and accessories. But what struck me were her shoes. The Japanese have taken shoes and turned them into an artform. No girl in Japan wears ugly clogs and crocs are punishable by death. For them if it goes on your foot it must be fashionable! And preferablly with a heel. So to focus on the shoes of this girl, and the other girl in the background who stepped into the frame right before I took the shot I greyscaled everything but the shoes. So enjoy. :)
