10-19-07 We Hoped These Were Tundra Swans, but Were Not

Album Info:
They appear to be Snow Geese, migrating down the river, just as the Tundra Swans will be doing by the thousands in a few weeks. We did see some, but were not in a place where I could take a pic of the very few of them. Some of the first, probably.

I was watching a documentary not long ago that showed how most birds migrate between 1000 and 3000miles twice a year. This must be a wonderful sight to see... wish I was there!!!

We don't get Snow Geese. I wish they would migrate through here. Probably too far north. Wonderful photo. Ray

I wonder if the Snow Geese will migrate down to Missouri? I don't remember seeing them here, but I haven't seen much of anything the last few days! :-( Very pretty shot, Sharon! Hugs, the other Sharon

THis is a great shot indeed - Just great. We are here in Israel on the main birds route from Europe to Africa. Milions and milions of birds from all kinds and sizes pass our sky. They stop on the northen lakes for few nighrs rest, and somtimes few of them stay for the winter as the farmers feed them with coen to avoid eating fish( St'petters, carps, and nany other typs) they grow in ponds.

Yep, migration time. I have some friends who are avid birders and October is their ultimate month

Snow Geese? My education has been lacking, obviously, because no one ever told me about these before. I wish you had swum across and got some close up shots though - you really MUST think of your friends wishes y'know!
