Nieuwendyk, the 2nd round, 27th overall pick of the Calgary Flames in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft was one of the most respected players of his era. A three time Stanley Cup Champion (1989, 99 and 2003), he also won the 1988 Calder Memorial Trophy (Rookie of the Year), the 1988 Dodge Ram Tough Award (Most combined PP, SH, tying and game winning goals), the 1995 King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Humanitarian of the Year) and the 1999 Conn Smythe Trophy (Playoffs' MVP). Voted to play in four All-Star games (1988,89,90 and 94) over the course of 20 NHL seasons, he suited up with the Calgary Flames, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers, playing in a total of 1257 games (66th All Time), scoring 564 goals (20th All-time), 562 assists (87th All-time) 1,126 points (51st All-time) (0.90 PPG), +155 and 677 PIM's. On the International stage, Nieuwendyk represented Canada at the 1986 World Junior Championships, at the 1990 World Championships, and is a two-time member of Canada's Olympic team in 1998 and won the Gold Medal in 2002 Games.
