Age: 4-1/2 years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 62 lbs Variety: Field-bred Casey is your classic Springer Spaniel. He is loving, loyal, eager to please, and quick to learn. He has been through a lot, and he just wants to be a part of a family. We don't know much about his history, but this is what we do know: Hhe was adopted from the local dog pound when he was about 1-1/2 years old, then found as a stray 3 years later and was kept at the home of the women who found him until she could not keep him any longer, and he was returned to the pound. He was then put in to foster care after two weeks in the slammer. Casey would like some stability in his short life. Casey is a very funny dog. Since joining our pack he has decided that the premier place to sleep is the closet, and food should come directly off of the counter. Butter is especially preferred, but a plate of enchiladas is fine too. He has a goofy personality; he loves being around kids, cats and other dogs. His manners need work; I don't think he was ever asked to behave properly in his former home/s. His manners have improved greatly since he has been with us, but he still needs work on the little things. I would recommend that the adoptive family take Casey to obedience training to continue his development. Everything we have seen in Casey's behavior would indicate that he would be a great dog as an only dog, or in a home with other dogs. Casey is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, wormed and heartworm negative. He is housetrained, and walks nicely on a leash. He needs a professional grooming, but was very well behaved when I trimmed him to get rid of mats and years of hair growth. There may be a problem with one of his hips, either dysplasia or a break that had not healed properly. An X-ray would confirm what it is, but the prognosis would be the same, a little aspirin, glycosomine, weight control, and consistent exercise are the best treatment.
