Album Info:

Age: 5 years Gender: Female Color: Liver/White Weight: 54 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Everyone who meets Sadie wonders how she could have ended up in rescue. How could such a sweet, pleasant, calm, and well-behaved girl have been left behind to fend for herself when her owners moved? She was totally abandoned. After a few weeks of feeding her, the neighbors took her in and called rescue. They had known Sadie because she used to play with their kids sometimes in the summer. Now we have this wonderful dog with us. Sadie is a calm, bench-bred female, who is the total house dog. At this point in time, she has no interest in the outdoors. She will go outside to go potty and then come right back in. She prefers to be inside lounging, preferably on your feet. She does very well with the resident dog, and is actually teaching her how to be calm in the house. She also does well with their cats. We weren't positive about Sadie with cats at first, but now that she has been with cats for a week, we feel confident that she would do OK with dog-savvy cats. Sadie loves everyone in the household. She is really good with the nine-year-old daughter. She has a special bond with the husband and likes to go to work with him sometimes. She is a loving dog and ready to be friends with anyone. Sadie rides well in the car and knows basic commands. She is housetrained and is trustworthy to keep inside. A few quirks to know about: Sadie hates the crate. She also does not like to share food with other dogs. At her foster home, they feed the dogs separately so there has never been a problem, but the people who rescued her said she was food-possessive with other dogs. Sadie was scared at the vet's office, and was held carefully while they took care of her. She might need to be muzzled for future scary or painful experiences at the vet's. Her toenails were ridiculously long and took a bit of cutting to fix. She thought the dryer was scary at the grooming salon and moaned all through the drying. That is why she is still wet in the photo! She also likes to play. The first day we got her, after her traumatic bath, she was ready to race around the floor and chase after a toy we were throwing for her. We think she would do well with kids age 6 and up. Because she's been reported to be food-aggressive with dogs, and because she was scared by sudden movements, we suggest older children. She sure does well with the older children she has met! She is in great health. She got up to date on all her shots, and we did a heartworm test, which was negative. She is spayed and ready to be adopted. Our rescue dogs are not appropriate for people looking for hunting. They are family pets who may or may not have any hunting instincts or training, or the right look, but they do promise to be loyal, affectionate, and to provide endless tail-wagging. Sadie loves the life she has with the foster family, and she is happily awaiting a family who will shower her with love.
