Variety: Field-bred Our boy Felix came bounding into our pack of 4 dogs (one is blind) without any problems - he is a small, non-dominant 18 month old liver-and-white with a full tail. Felix was born with undersized eyes fit into oddly shaped eye sockets - so says the canine ophthalmologist (one of the best if not THE best in San Diego). The doctor anticipates Felix will not need any further medical intervention for his condition. In fact, the doctor was amazed Felix had any sight at all. Felix does indeed see and is highly adaptable! He sees best with lots of light and not so well at night or in the dark. Felix jumps up, not because he has poor manners but to get his best look at you. Felix is a complete teenager which means he is in his chewing phase. He loves toys, and is not shy about getting the toys out of the toy basket. He happily chews on kong balls, ropes, just about anything, including anything you just happen to leave around. He is extremely loving, very sweet, and even tempered. Many times I look over at Felix to see him jumping on the couch to get a cuddle or I find him with his face resting on his favorite hedgehog toy – fast asleep. I think Felix will do well with a canine brother, age is not an issue. He just loves our two-year-old, and he also will curl up with, or try to play with, our blind dog (poor Felix hasn't figured out why that big dog won't play with him!). I haven't seen any separation anxiety with Felix, but he has a pack to be with. He is just a totally normal guy, he loves being around his people, he travels very well, is learning to walk with the pack, and generally has a smile on his face. He loves everyone he comes in contact with. He tried to jump in our vet's lap, but I don't recommend Felix and children. He hasn't exhibited any negative behavior, I just think he reacts to adults best, and a stable calm environment would be wonderful for him. This little guy is not looking for sympathy, he is 100% dog, hear him bark!
